When I Grow Up....

I want to be a party/wedding planner. Ok, in all seriousness, it's probably a little too late to do it officially, but I can love to plan an event from time to time. I have planned/coordinated/designed my grandfather's 90th birthday which was a huge event/hit, my sister-in-law's wedding (pictures can be found here), multiple showers, jewelry parties, Super Bowl parties, tailgate parties, & College World Series parties. You name it, I will plan it!

In the spirit of sharing and exchanging (I LOVE getting new great recipes), I am participating in "Super Hostess Idea Share" at Life is....Glamorous and Fabulous!

Most of the parties (with the exception of the wedding) have a few items in common...my standby margaritas and go-to dip.

The best margaritas EVER (courtesy of the Sweet Potato Queens Book of Love):
1 can limeade
1 can 7-up (use empty limeade can if you buy 2 liter which you should because you will want to double or triple this recipe!)
1 can white tequila (good stuff, not the cheap kind)
1 Corona beer

Mix all together (don't blend) and squeeze in some fresh limes and add to pitcher. They are always a hit, people always want more and they don't realize how strong they are....so be sure you have a DD on hand!

Cream cheese layer dip (super easy!):
1 8oz cream cheese (softened)
1 bottle 12 oz chili sauce (I prefer Heinz)
1 package Canadian bacon
1 onion
1 green pepper
1 package shredded cheese (I use the Mexican blend)

Spread cream cheese in bottom of pizza pan or similar size tray. Spread sauce over cream cheese (I use about 1/3 of bottle because I am not a huge sauce fan, but it's really personal preference). Dice bacon, onion and green pepper and spread over cream cheese/chili sauce. Top with cheese. Refrigerate 1 hour and serve with Fritos Scoops. Another crowd favorite!

This weekend we are attending instead of hosting and although I'm a little bummed, it will be nice to be able to relax and let someone else do the entertaining.

Happy party planning!

This weekend....

My in-laws and one sister-in-law and my niece are coming here for the weekend so I probably won't be around much. However, I just have to say one thing before Sunday:

We are so excited about the Black and Gold Super Bowl here in the Conway household!

Have a fabulous weekend!

Score!

I walked into Kohl's last night to look at dresses/cute sweaters/etc. to start updating my wardrobe. Didn't have much luck there as they are in between seasons and it's still COLD here, but I did find these little gems marked down to $23 from $69.99:

Yes, they are generic, but remember I'm not trendy enough to pay for real Uggs and wear them with daisy dukes like those cute little girls do. I do think they will be perfect to slip on and off during our ski trip in 2 weeks.

Do you have Uggs (or some form of them?) How do you wear them?

Tuesdays's List: Favorite Bible Verses

What a great idea for Tuesday's List...I may be adding a few new favorites after reading what others have posted at Love from Texas' site.

For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord.
Plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Jeremiah 29:11

I have this on a magnet at my desk at work. I glance at it several times throughout the day and it always makes me feel better, no matter what's going on.

Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:18

This just became a favorite last week after my mom sent it to me.

A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.
She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
"Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all."
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
Give her the reward she has earned,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

Proverbs 31: 10-12

My brother read this at my grandmother's funeral and it's like it was written for her. I strive to be the kind of woman my grandmother was, and hope someday someone will read this and think of me.

Ready to change up my style...

I need What Not to Wear to ambush me....please!

My job went business casual (jeans allowed) last year and I find myself getting REALLY bored with sweaters and jeans every day. I used to love going shopping for dress pants and nice tops, but lately, I've been getting too comfy in the jeans and sweaters and not feeling like I need to shop for dress clothes. However, I've decided I need to get back to who I am (I won best dressed in high school!) and enjoy shopping again and make a point to look nice and not just "comfortable."

I have also gained some weight and need to lose that before spending a ton on a new wardrobe, but I know I can still make myself look nice with a few staple pieces. I am definitely ready for it to warm up so I can add more dresses to my wardrobe.

So....I'm on a mission to start the process. What are your favorite go to pieces/stores? I know Kelly's Korner did a Fashion Tips Friday so I'll definitely be browsing through those as well.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, the pieces must be "honky tonk badonkadonk" friendly. I have been "blessed" (as my mother likes to tell me) with a healthy booty. HA!

Ski trip...booked!

J asked if I wanted to take a quick trip somewhere, and I am certainly not one to turn down an opportunity to travel so I immediately said yes! I couldn't decide where I wanted to go and looked at what seemed like a hundred different places.

My wish list included:
Paws Up Resort
Blackberry Farm
The Cloister at Sea Island

Notice I said WISH list. I think those will remain on my wish list for quite some time. 5 year anniversary perhaps? They are crazy expensive, but from what I've heard, all incredible places to visit.

So then I came back to reality and narrowed it down to:
Disney World
Barkwells
The Homestead

For whatever reason, none of those were really hitting me either. I decided to check out the Snowshoe (WV) website to see if they had any deals. I have been there several times, but it was about 10 years ago and I just wasn't excited about going back. It seemed kind of "old" to me and I was in college when I went. However, much to my surprise, it looks like they've done A LOT of updating in the past 10 years and they have new lodging and more restaurants and options to choose from. So I booked it all yesterday and we are going for 3 nights in a couple of weeks. I am so excited! J has never been skiing so I think he's excited, but also a little nervous. I haven't been in about 4 years, but I hope it's just like riding a bike!

As I was watching Miss America last night, I got the bright idea we should go to Vegas instead....then I came back down to reality. I don't even really like Vegas, other than watching the fountain at the Bellagio and all of the good eating. I am definitely not trendy enough to go into any of the clubs so I think we've made the right decision.

So, what about you all? If you had a chance to get away for 4/5 days, where would you go? Have you been to any of the places mentioned above?

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!

XOXO.
